Class Description
This course is designed to meet the training requirements outlined in NIMS: Wildland Fire Qualification System Guide, PMS 310-1 and the position task books developed for the positions of Task Force Leader and Strike Team Leader. Most examples and exercises in this package are specific to wildland fire suppression, although some all-hazards exercises are included. Prerequisite(s): Qualified as any single resource boss; satisfactory completion of preselection assessment and pre-course work. Satisfactory completion of pre-selection assessment and pre-course work. 1. Read the publication Leading in the Wildland Fire Service, PMS 494-2 (https://www.nwcg.gov/publications/pms494-2) 2. Go to the Wildland Fire Leadership Development Program website. At the bottom of the homepage, you will see the WFLDP Blog: "Wildland Fire Leadership" (also available directly at http://wildlandfireleadership.blogspot.com/. Click on Labels and read about a topic that interests you. 3. Complete the pre-selection assessment (https://wildlandfirelearningportal.net/pluginfile.php/273012/course/section/34075/s-330-app-c-pre-course-quiz.pdf)(pre-course quiz) and submit it as directed by your instructor or course coordinator. You must obtain a score of 70% or higher to be admitted into the course.
Important Policies
Registration for the 2024 Palo Duro Wildfire Academy opens Monday, July 29 at 9 am and closes Friday, October 11 at 5 pm. All cancelations must be made by 5 pm on Friday, October 11 to receive a full refund. Cancelations must be sent to palodurowildfireacademy@gmail.com and must include your name and department.
